Bebe Wallmart-Mellon is young, intelligent and beautiful. Everyone knows that, if only for her frequent unintentional appearances on FoozBang, the hot new social medium.
But people do not realize Bebe is a Beauteur – an elite follower of Lady Aristotle, America’s dominant philosopher-queen. Through her world-renowned School of Objective Beauty and millions of rabid followers, Lady Aristotle towers above 21st Century American philosophy.
Yet the Goddess of Reason has never once met Bebe, her most famous of acolytes. Until the day Bebe finds herself in the New Electoral College.
As one of three judges sworn to elect a new American president, Bebe’s new-found status draws her into a world of intrigue and power. There that she meets her dream lover Samson Agonistes handsome, tall, strong, stupid and easily led – everything a woman needs in a man.
It’s then that Bebe is finally summoned to meet her hero, high above the spires of New York City in her mysterious penthouse.
Her queen will demand a great price Bebe must sacrifice either her soul or her personal happiness to serve the Philosopher of Beauty. Will Bebe brave a nightmare of sadness? Or will she sacrifice all for her country instead? Search me. Better yet, search Doom of Weirds.

If the recent Tea Party-inspired hijinks in Washington DC have left you clamoring for an encore, here it is! An inspired look at our not-too-distant political landscape. Why wait for just the next gridlock tango by our political betters, when you can fast forward to where we will be when Tea Party wisdom and sagacity have finally been allowed to fully bloom!

A landscape in which the Great Seal of the United States of America has been replaced by the Okay Postage Stamp. Its motto upgraded from the obscure and probably Frenchy-inspired E pluribus unum to the more practical: If you can't be good, be funny! (spelled out in honest-by-God American).
A day in which Presidents are no longer chosen by some long winded, expensive electoral process that might require thought and even (gasp) evidenced-based judgment on the part of the electorate. Instead we have the pre-school simplicity and openness of a televised talent contest: I Want To Be Your Next President (requiring only a reasonable [say 25% of the GDP] copyright payment to that great thinker and humanitarian, Simon Cowell). Finally, no one can get to the Highest Office in the Land without demonstrating at least one genuine talent real Americans can appreciate: a valuable skill like being able to be shot out of a cannon or the ability to tap dance while telling whoopers.

So instead of worrying about whether current events hurt too much for laughter, go straight to the future and be prepared to laugh until it hurts. And if while resting your laugh-wrenched muscles, you relapse and start pondering whether you are indulging in a Guilty Pleasure, read the endnotes which will set you off laughing again, as free from thoughtful care as Ted Cruz on a filibuster.

Doom of Weirds edition by Lance Grider Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

The book is a political satire based on the odd situation we find our current democracy in, the forefathers of course never anticipating that money would be considered free speech, that corporations would be considered people, and that social media would replace critical thinking. It is cleverly written, uses wordplay and puns to poke fun of current trends and popular culture but overdoes it a bit which makes it hard to follow at times. Readers who are familiar with current political people and popular culture would enjoy it most.
Tom Leher determined that political satire was dead after Dr. Henry Kissinger was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize. Whether Mr. Grider has actually created post-modern political satire or just revived it in order to kill it again (Didn't Sarah Palin,et al, do that?), the result is a hilarious romp through nearly tomorrow America poking fun at just about every thing involved with "modern" or "post modern" America. On the bright side, it does provide a sound method of ending the national debt and gridlock. This is the perfect gift for over-zealous evangelical clergymen, right wing-nut talk show host and Sarah Palin fans (although you will have to find somebody to read it to them).
Readers will reflect on this book long after they have stopped chuckling.
